  • When Vijay Chandar met Aamir Khan in Karaikudi

    On July 12, Vijay Chandar shared a picture of himself with Bollywood star Aamir Khan on Twitter and had written, "Some time unexpected dreams come true love u Amir Sir (sic)." This sent netizens on a tizzy, with many even asking the filmmaker if he's part of Sanga Tamizhan, a film that he's directing with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Curious, we tapped Vijay, who was in the thick of a schedule in Karaikudi, and he told us, "I'm a big fan of Aamir sir, and when I learnt that he'd come to Karaikudi for some work, I used that opportunity to reach out to him. It was a memorable moment for me, meeting him and talking to him, even if it was just for a few minutes.” Meanwhile, Vijay, who last directed Sketch, is busy with the last few schedule of Sanga Tamizhan. The film has Vijay Sethupathi playing a double role for the first time ever in his career. The director had earlier told us, “I’ve met Vijay Sethupathi a few times and when I narrated the one-liner to him, he was kicked. He has done a variety of role, and he told me that he wanted to do a mass film. Avar oru mass mood la iruntharu. Even I like doing mass commercial films, and we thought this script could work for both of us.”

  • Director Vijay to begin shooting for 'Thalaivi' in October

    Actress Kangana Ranaut, who was last seen on screen in 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', will be playing late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the upcoming multilingual biopic 'Thalaivi'. Director AL Vijay is all set to get married with doctor Aishwarya this month. Following his marriage, the director is all set to start his next big movie Thalaivi. The film, announced on the occasion of 71st birthday anniversary of Jayalalithaa in February, will be directed by Vijay. To be produced by Vishnu Induri, the shooting of 'Thalaivi' is all set to begin in October first week. Reports are that the team will start with the shooting of sequences featuring young Jayalalitha, and will be shot in Mysore. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar while Nirav Shah will crank the camera. 'Bahubali' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' writer has been brought on board to supervise the writing process. Interestingly, another Jayalalithaa biopic titled 'The Iron Lady' is currently in the offing. This project is gearing up for a 2020 release. Nithya Menen plays Jayalalithaa in "The Iron Lady", being directed by A. Priyadarshini. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

  • Digangana Suryavanshi replaces Rhea Chakraborty in Dhanusu Raasi Neyargalae

    In April, we’d reported that Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty would be making her Kollywood debut with Sanjay Bharathi’s Dhanusu Raasi Neyargalae, which stars Harish Kalyan in the lead. Now, we’ve learnt that the actress will not be a part of the project owing to date clashes, and has been replaced by yet another Bollywood actress, Digangana Suryavanshi. Interestingly, this film will mark her debut in the Tamil industry. Sanjay confirms, “We started shooting with Harish and the rest of the cast a few months ago, and both Rhea and Reba Monica John were supposed to join the team sometime in June. But we weren’t able to work out continuous dates with Rhea because she was also busy with her Bollywood films. Harish, too, had other commitments. So, we spoke to Rhea and her team and mutually decided to part ways.”

  • Brothers Dhanush, Selva to make a film together, again

    Dhanush and Selvaraghavan are coming together again after a gap of eight years for a film that will be bankrolled by producer S Thanu. The film will be the last of the three films that Dhanush will be making for Thanu, with whom he had entered into a three-film deal last year. He is currently shooting for Vetri Maaran’s Asuran and will begin the second film, directed by Mari Selvaraj, soon. Selvaraghavan’s film is likely to go on floors only by next year as Dhanush has already committed to a few more projects, with Karthik Subbaraj, Ramkumar (of Ratsasan fame) and Durai Senthilkumar’s untitled film, which he is simultaneously shooting for alongside Asuran. While there is speculation that this film might be a sequel to their cult Pudhupettai, we hear that this is going to be based on a fresh script that Selvaraghavan is currently working on.

  • Saaho team heads to Austria to shoot a song

    Prabhas' upcoming film Saaho is one of the most-anticipated films of the year. The action entertainer is in the last leg of the shoot with the crew heading to Tyrol, Austria to shoot a song. A song shoot, with the Rebel Star and Shraddha Kapoor, has also been panned by the team. Vaibhavi Merchant, one of the iconic Bollywood choreographers, has choreographed the peppy number.   • Baahubali makers give OK for Sindhubaadh release

    The Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Sindhubaadh, which was slated to hit last Friday, had to postpone its release at the last moment due to a legal dispute involving its producer SN Rajarajan and Arka Mediaworks, the production house behind the Baahubali movies. Arka Mediaworks had obtained a stay on the release of the film in the Hyderabad High Court over money that Rajarajan of K Productions owed to them for distributing Baahubali: The Conclusion in Tamil Nadu. Now, after mediation, the production house has decided to give an okay to the release of the film as a goodwill gesture. In a statement, Shobu Yarlagadda of Arka Mediaworks, says, "We, M/s Arka Mediaworks Entertainment LLP state that upon discussions held with various parties and upon the interests of various third-parties being gravely affected and out of the goodwill

    The cast of Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ seems to be growing bigger day by day. Bollywood actor Bollywood actor has joined the cast of the film has joined the cast of the film recently.     The much-awaited trailer of Nandini Reddy’s Samantha, Lakshmi and Naga Shaurya starrer ‘Oh Baby’ released today. The 2-minute-12-seconds long video delves deeper into the story, revealing that Adivi Sesh plays the role of Baby’s now-departed husband. The trailer also sees her friend, played by Rajendra Prasad, narrating the story of how a 70-year-old, played by Lakshmi is turned into a 24-year-old, played by Samantha. However, her son, played by Rao Ramesh and his family refuse to believe, asking Rajendra Prasad to consult a psychiatrist. Jagapathi Babu on the other hand plays the photographer who helps Baby regain her youth. The trailer also hilariously shows how Baby doesn’t immediately realise she’s young and beats up a man for making a pass at her. Naga Shaurya, who seems to play an important part of Baby’s new life, also wonders why she keeps behaving and talking like someone much older than her age. There’s also a hilarious sequence where she reveals her idea of a perfect husband. Another hilarious track reveals how Rajendra Prasad too tries hard to look young like his friend Baby.

  • Dalip Tahil is a part of Rajinikanth's 'Darbar'

    It had been earlier reported that AR Murugadoss started filming for his Rajinikath-starrer copdrama 'Darbar', in which Prateik Babbar plays the antagonist’s son, in mid-April. Now, we have learnt that the film also features Dalip Tahil as a senior officer to the South superstar’s cop. “My character supports Rajini bhai’s drive to clean the city of goons. I started filming with him at a hotel in Goregaon,” informed Dalip, who has worked with Rajinikanth in the 1995 actioncrime film 'Aatank Hi Aatank'. They had done another film together which didn’t release. “I was so happy to meet him after 24 years. I didn’t recognise him when he arrived on the first day as Rajini bhai is looking like a 25-year-old boy. He has maintained himself well. When I told him that, he had a good laugh,” the actor said, adding that his portions will wrap up with the Mumbai schedule. The Hindi-Tamil-Telugu trilingual also features Nayanthara.

    Venkatesh is currently shooting for ‘Venky Mama’ with Naga Chaitanya, Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput, under the direction of KS Ravindra with Thaman S’ music. Recently, rumours were abuzz that the actor will be hosting the third season of ‘Bigg Boss’, apart from acting in the ‘Vikram Vedha’ remake with Nara Rohith. While rumours have been afloat since long about the film being remade in Telugu, the cast of the same keeps changing and looks like now it’s Venkatesh and Nara Rohith’s turn.     During the recently concluded pre-release event of ‘Maharshi’, Mahesh Babu shared his experience while working for the sensible film and praised director Vamshi Paidipally to the core.
